RE: Power Commander... D'OH!!!
Well, i'm just gonna have to get the dealer to do the initial install... sucks
I do have a PC but it's super old, and barely works... my fiancee has a nice PC desktop, but until we move in together in the fall i won't have a lot of access to it... oh well!
I don't have a mac because i'm an artsy type or anything... i just like an OS that doesn't crash, and a hard drive where i don't lose data . I use my mac laptop every day for my gradebook etc. (i'm a high school math teacher)

Matthew -
A desktop will work, with the 9V adapter hooked up to power the PCIII.
I know the educational community runs on mac - but certainly you know someone that has a PC and will give you 1/2 hour of access? Doesn't take much more than that.
If it were me - I'd make an effort to get a base map installed and then find a local trusted dyno guy to fine tune it.
Better than wasting $ at the dealer.
Good Luck -

Go to the library or find someone's kid who is a computer geek. You only need it for 1/2 hour tops to do the inital upload of the map and to "poke around". Once that is done, you're set.
Or heck, go to Starbucks and pay for some "hottie's" latte and ask them if you can borrow their corporate laptop for a couple minutes...

I'm sure bill gates is concerned about your score card....of course, if he took the 15 seconds to read your post, he'd loose more in that 15 seconds than any of us make in a year.
But hey....you mac guys do have the cute little commercials. So maybe you should make that 1,000,001

you with software for the macintosh, turns into a rant against the PC.
I myownself have never worked with a macintosh,
so I don't know what I am missing.
But - I'm really curious now as to what OS you are speaking of that crashes,
and the harddrive that loses your data.
I haven't turned off my my PC runnin Windows2000 for over a year.
My hugeharddrive is damn near full of AutoCad, jpgs, mp3s, Word docs, etc etc.
Dual monitors, at least ten or more windows are open atalltimes.
I work it hard for at least3-4 hours every day. It's on 24-7-365.
Never a crash, never have lost any data.
Better back everything up, now that I have shot my mouth off.

I never had an issue with my Windows XP computer. Vista works pretty good too, although does take slightly more computing horsepower. My PC has never lost files or done any of the things you mentioned. I have been using PCs for 17 years now.
PS... The battle between MAC and PC... uh..... sales speak for themselves.
