Updates, Inventions, and Ideas (Pics)
Here are some updates from the last time I posted a picture (2005 Low Rider).
I swapped the goofy (no offense) V&H Big Radius pipes for a nice plain-jane 2:1 Screamin' Eagle made by Supertrapp. I bought this exhaust off the classified section of this website. Thanks Shawn.
The seat is a Mustang Daytripper. I'd give you a review of the seat but I'm so pissed off at the customer service idiots at Mustang that I've decided to withhold a review of their product. This seat has a workmanship issue and they refuse to talk to me about it.
The rear signals were relocated to the license bracket using a neat little kit from Kuryakyn. It only cost $29. This relocation was to allow the install of a set of BareBacksto quick detach a set of saddlebags. I got the BareBacks on the clearance table at the local HD dealer, and so far I'm very happy with the way things are working. It's literally 5 seconds to remove AND replace a bag.
The rings you see attached to the struts are stainless tie down rings made to mount on the fork clamps of a dirt bike. I got them at the local Yamaha shop. They are much better than bungee nuts for strapping cargo.
The handlebars are stock 2001 Superglide units. They have 1" more rise and 2" more pullback than the stock Low Rider bars. Wiring is internal and the cables are cleanly routed. The throttle cables are a pair of short units off a 2006 Heritage Softail.
The spiffy little tool bag cradle uses the mount originally intended for the California vapor canister (which is long gone).
I think every good seat should have a backrest option, not just the goofy looking expensive puffy butt big touring units, so I made my own. The backrest support is attached to the luggage rack with zip ties. The backrest is on a hinge so it pivots with the riders back, and it's adjustable for depth with a turnbuckle. Just reach back and give it a few turns to move it forward or back. Obviously the backrest is solo only

As to the backrest, some of the old hens that perch on the back of my scooter
are askin for your phone number. They wanna ride that thang.
And, they are sayin they can adjust that turnbuckle
w/o you ever even takin yours hands off the bars
(and polish it for you at the same time, no charge for the polishing).

Nice work on the mods Trout. Very innovative, and cleanly executed.
