Default Hello! And... is this a fair deal on a Fat Bob?

My first post!!

Hey there! I'm brand new to the forum. Just registered, so I'm introducing myself. I've been lurking on this forum for weeks. There's a ton of awesome information here and I love the community - so I'm excited to be a part of it now.

I've been riding bikes my whole life but am new to Harleys. I've been shopping for a Sportster 48, but after doing some research and riding a few bikes, I think I'd be much happier on a Fat Bob.

I've found a 2008 Fat Bob two hours away from here for $7000, but I'm not sure if this is a good deal. It's Black Denim, in good shape, and has 20,000 miles. Never laid down or tipped. No mechanical issues. I talked him down from $7,500. What concerns me is the mileage. I haven't yet seen it or ridden it yet. My offer is contingent on the bike looking and running great.

Should I pull the trigger on this? I know these pictures suck, that's what was in the ad.

Not a fan of these saddle bags but I can see possibilities for this bike just waiting to be let loose.

Just looking for an opinion on value here mostly. It does have the exact pipes I'd have put on it... so that's a bonus. Don't think it has had the intake upgraded.

Hello! And... is this a fair deal on a Fat Bob?-8b2ygsw.jpg

Can't tell you if it's right for where you live - but I would snap it up for that over this side of the pond!

20K miles in 8 years is nothing for that bike and it looks like it's already had $2K or so of upgrades done to it.

Based on your listed location, the year, and the mileage that bike would see a trade in value of around $6500 and a retail of about $9300 according to KBB...

At $7000, if it's in the condition you believe it to be in and it's what you're looking for, I'd say pounce on it...

And welcome to the Dyna family

Like adm said 20K is not a lot of miles,(actually a little low for 8yrs riding) properly cared for everything will/should be in good shape mechanically.
Value and cost is contingent on the local market and varies by region.
7K is a good price for that bike here in Minn,, not a super cheap "bargain", but not over priced like many you see listed today. Just a darn good fair price.
You'll be way happier with a Dyna vs the Sporty,, and you'll end up spending money on "extras" to make it your own as time goes by

I have a lot of ideas already... Got a sick idea for a tank paint job. Super excited to snag one of these.

Been looking at both SBs and Fat Bobs but I like the wider tire and double calipers up front.

NO ONE pays for any "upgrades" on a bike ("but but but looky at all the chrome I put on!" ) unless they are idiots.

Like putting a $10K sound system in a KIA, probably will get blue book on that too.

I don't see **** for any upgrades on that bike in those images; ShortShots, crappy looking bags, a 'crash' bar, and a backrest/luggage rack? 7 grand, max. Those upgrades will end up in the trash bin anyway. Cheap, cheap, cheap mods; a skull derby cover? Thanks but, not...

OP,
Listen, listen, listen. Your already well ahead of the game with you choice of scoot ok? With just one afternoon of wrenching to remove the 39 dollars worth of dead weight and eye sore, you will have a ride that all the previous AND forthcoming posters would love to have but don't.
