If you ride with gloves and want to control your MP3 player, stay away from the touch sensitive controls like those of the ipod.

As for ear buds, the Koss are good, but stay away from the ones that don't have even length wires on each side. I bought a set and the short side wouldn't stay in my ear with the weight of the other one pulling on it.
The JVC Marshmallow HA-FX33A are really good. I can hear them perfectly with or without a helmet and they don't wiggle out, They are $20 at WalMart.

I concur with Jackyl, Creative Labs Jukebox is what I have. I've had it for 4 years, been to Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti and numerous other travel, also goes to the gym with me. A little larger than an IPOD, but I have had NO problems with it.
The software to manage your music library is soo much easier to deal with than IPOD.
