You didn't mention the exhaust gaskets. Cheap and you'll destroy them when you take the headers out of the heads.

Palm Dez is a great place to ride, during Winter months!

It'll be so hot there on Tuesday, that you'll be able to powder coat in your garage, without an oven!

Hey, have you been to Sherman's Deli?

Yup thanks! I always change out the exhaust gaskets, but was unsure of the intake ones.

Yeah over 115 all week. Got back from my morning bike ride and already at 100 at 10am, won't be working on the MC today! I actually got more ride time in when I was in VA! Tomorrow is a rest day bike wise so should be able to work unimpeded for a few early morning hours.

Love Sherman's pretty good pastrami although Manhatten of the Desert has a better latke

Anyone take a look at the pic where the black coating has come off the rear cylinder around the spark plug? Wondering what caused that.

Knowing where you are, it would be easy to say "blowing sand" but, it's not in a leading edge situation.

Powder coatings are "finished" by heat application. They are also removed via heat application. I think that's what you've got going on here. Outside temp, + engine temp, + spark plug temp, and you have that result. A perfect storm, so to say. Even the front cyl doesn't have it as it sees more air than the rear. You might try 1 step colder plugs.

Oh yes, a "lean" tune can be a contributing factor too. Got an oil temp gauge? If so, what do you see when idling down the 118?

(Hey, is Billy Read's still there across from the Aerial tramway?)

I believe it is but haven't been there myself. We do some work with the team and have seen the sign.

No oil temp gauge yet but will be getting one. Yo your point though, head temps can get pretty gnarly when I ride! So long as it's not a concern.

the intake gaskets should never be reused. They are cheap.

I always enjoy your threads! The breakout is getting a 124. Should be done in a month.....no real hurry.
