How big of a tire can you put on a 2000 SuperGlide before you need to make modifications?

how tight is the 180 in the swing arm?

I'd say you have about an inch and one half at the narrowest point.

And the ride to me is night and day between the 180 and the 160 stocker. With the 180 Istarted tointentionally hit the ruts and bumps in the road because I couldn't believe the difference. It feels like I have new and improved shocks on the rear and things are much more stable. I wouldn't have believed the improvement if I didn't experience it first hand.

I like the sound of a slightly larger rear tire on my 2003 Lowrider. presently we have 150mm rear tires, is it possible to replace that with a 180 Metzler or Avon Venom? I've got about 8k on my Venoms and need to figure out what to do, I'm not afraid to make minor modifications under the fender to make it fit ... I can't see myself spending $1000 just to add 30 or 50mm of meat to the rear end ..

Anyone have any ideas or stories of adding a 180 to the rear of their 2003 dyna???

According to a couple of the fitment charts you have a 16 x 3" rear rim. Metzler says you can go to a 160 rear.

Not sure if the clearance on the 2003 is the same as the 2006. I can measure mine and post the results. You can probably go to a Stock rim from a 2006 Low Rider if you change the bearing pack out. it's a 16 x 4.5" rim.

Metzler information:

• Type of motorcycle: HARLEY-DAVIDSON
• Model: 03-04 FXDL DYNA LOW RIDER

Front 100/90-19 M/C 57H TL ME880 FRONT - 38 PSI - 3.0 INCHES

Rear 160/80B16M/CTL 75H ME880 - 40 PSI - **

Remarks:
** Desinates special tire fitment on O.E. rim.
