I've heard good things about having the stock seat modified to better suit your preferences. However, I don't have any personal experience going this route.

I went with the Lucky Daves, which I find comfortable and looks great. My wife as passenger hates it. For her I throw on my Mustang Vintage One-piece. She finds it very comfortable. Between these two the Lucky Daves shifts me slightly forward than the Mustang.

Everyone's butt and lumbar is different. If you like the look of the stock seat, I would find an auto upholsterer, who's done bike seats, and see if they can custom fit and adjust it for you. I did that with a Le Pera seat I bought, years ago. The Le Pera was good and comfortable for short trips, but the long ones, over an hour in saddle, was painful!!! Took it in to an auto upholstery place and they adjusted it, trimmed some foam etc. and now its perfect. Short rides, long rides, doesn't matter. And this kept the cost down too.

I picked out two seats, one for daily and shorter distance riding and one for over 200 mile days. If you only get one then decide if you want to be able to do long rides. Are you open to eventually having two seats or are you planning on sticking with one all around seat?

I'd go with the Saddleman.

I had a C&C fastback. Seat was too low for my liking. My knees were way above my hips which was not comfortable for me.

I currently have a mustang fastback which is taller than the C&C and pretty comfortable overall.

I'm looking to upgrade to the saddleman because of the added gel and I think it may be a little taller than the mustang.

my LePera Cobra looks sweet but it's less comfy than the stock seat so I don't think it would meet your needs, buahahaha. I've been considering getting a touring seat of some kind. Leaning towards the saddlemen gel seat posted previously.

I have the saddleman explorer and love it. Very comfy. No pain.

I was thinking about it, those gel seats are legit. My 16' gsxr 1000 has a small sportbike gel seat and after 180 miles of I-5 a while back my *** wasn't even numb.

Definitely making me want a saddlemen gel seat for the FXDL.
