Definitely won't work with commercially available pre-load adjusters.

One way to make it work (but without pre-load adjusters ) is to use "Slugs" for your extensions and drill/tap one to receive the threaded rod just like the original cap

why does the cartridge need to be attached to the cap I wonder? does it really?

also I plan to at least run pre-load on the right side, spring side. should work just like how the cartridge does, on the other, and help. thoughts?

This sounds like a hot mess to me, but I'm no cartridge expert.

Not sure where u got lost. The top of the cartridge threads into the top cap. No big deal. You just have to actually look at the thing. Use a wrench on the rod and loosen the cap. Separates and comes right off. I know its a LRS, I have one and have done the suspension on it.

Not sure how a preload adjuster on the right side suddenly makes it work like the cartridge setup? But it doesnt. Its a inadequate solution to an already inadequate setup. Kinda a weird setup youre using there with the extensions and preload adjusters with a stock setup (especially if youre running the 12" shocks still in the back).

^ I'm not...I'm running 13.5" Ohlins, so this will be perfect, hence why I'm doing it.

and wasn't saying it'll work like a cartridge. I'm saying having pre-load only on the right, (spring side) should help, considering there's a cartridge system on the (left) side only.

and overall, I'm trying this because I think this will not only help with the ride performance, but give me the extra travel I want as well, for $150.

OK, cool. Just from the sound of the mods kinda slapped together for a stock bike. For the back youve spent..... Id say save the 150.00 and spend the same on the front as the back. The stock front is junk for aggressive riding. + over stock tubes arent that expensive. I swapped mine for my dual cartridge setup because I couldnt use the stock left side. And go with a conventional spring setup and adjusters or dual cartridge setup. Youll be happier and money spent well.

You won't gain any extra Front Suspension Travel with your original plan... (not to be confused with gaining ground clearance)

.
