What do you consider a "major change"? Wheels/Rims are gonna be your first hurdle.

Also, try a search. This is a common question.

Welcome from NE AR michelin commander 2 180 back 110 front. When I needed a new set kept 160 on back and switched to 110 on front made huge difference, in handling i.e. grooved pavement road snakes.

180 is the widest....I think bluebob is running a 200 but he had to do some work to get there....
but only certain tires will fit that 4.5” rim.

I laced a 6" rim to my stock hub. A 5.5" wide will also work with a 200mm. Made custom spacers, sleeved the pulley bolt holes down to .440" Used ARP bolts with .437" shank, and longer so no thread exposed in pulley or spacer, then drilled and safety wired. completely sanitized the inner fender, relocated signals.

For the front I laced a 3.25" x 21" and mounted a 120mm 70 21" Avon. Really feels good now!! I built my own tire irons / bead breaker / truing stand / even made my own stainless spoke weights. Wide glide trees / AN BBK Tokico caliper.

180 fits my 2015 SB no problems and plenty of clearance but I am running the 16 inch Fat Bob wheel in the rear, my 17 inch Spoke wheel couldn't handle the crap CA roads combined with my twitchy throttle wrist.

The widest tires I have found to fit on the stock 17x4.5 wheel are the Michelin Scorcher 160/70-17 @ 6.97 & the Bridgestone Battlecruise H50 180/60-17 @ 7.24, but the BS was measured on a 5" rim so it's probably more like 7.1. The Mich Scorcher 180/60-17 is 7.6, but it's minimum wheel width is 5" & it would be a tight fit & might need a little work on the rear fender. All of the 180 mentioned above are mounted on 16" wheels.

actually there are 3 tire brands in the 180 tire size that will fit that 17 x 4.5 rim. Go to the site I liked in my other post...

I was going by manufacturer info, both Dunlop & Michelin say 5" minimum & I was unable to find specs on the Night Dragon, & I have run them on a different bike & didn't care for them.
