Big shots exhaust

Why? Larger diameter exhaust isn't going to make it faster. If the exhaust is too big for the engine it hurts performance. From years ago, a guy I knew had almost identical Ironhead Sportster, like my old 72 XLCH. 2 guys riding together leads to the Stop Light Grand Prix. His XLH was a lot slower than my 72 CH. Stopped for a frosty cold beverage and some conversation. BOTH bikes had identical engine work done and matching gear ratios. The only difference was mine had 1 3/4" drag pipes and he had 2" drag pipes. Next time we rode together BOTH bikes were neck n neck. He fessed up . . . got new 1 3/4" drag pipes with a big sh*t eating grin and said Thank You.

The ones I’ve seen from Freedom, Cobra, etc. all look the same diameter. 2” pipe with 2.5” heat shields might be the biggest you can fit and still have adequate clearance between the frame tube up at the front exhaust port.
The exhaust I’d like to see is a true dual long big shot style without the crossover or “power chamber.” Seems like manufacturers only offer true dual in short shot style exhausts. I wonder why.

a 107” kit still isn’t enough displacement to warrant needing larger diameter exhaust. Even with head work, the exhaust ports won’t be opened up larger than factory diameter exhaust anyway.
get a 124” S&S then worry about getting larger diameter exhaust.
