2003 FXDX Re-birth

A lot. I own a 2000 DX with 65000 mile on it..
Repack neck, replace only if needed.
...........
Wheel bearing only if rough.
...........
Clutch cable only is needed. How does the outside look. Go to the 99A ramps, will light pull by 15% and cost much less than the Mueller.

Beauty of a score, especially considering the rareity and age of those models. I wanted to "build" an FXR years ago, but the performance I was after wasn't easily obtained from an EVO. Local college has a couple of greybeard Harley instructors with decades of experience. I've taken lots of advice from them and never been disappointed with the outcome. They steered me to the FXDXT, and after a 6 month search I found a mint, stock, one owner bike only 1000 miles away. After a couple of years and a few thousand dollars, this was the result. This was also BEFORE the "SOA" craze hit. I ended up with a 103", using a 51CV with HQ cams and heads. Got 111HP/117TQ with 100ft lbs at 220 rpm. Ran beautifully smooth and trouble free with the 51CV.

Oh man... I'm actually jealous of your project. You're going to be SO HAPPY you're doing this as you get closer to the finish line and final ride-ability, even though it seems daunting now. My advice, take each part separately and slowly, and do it right, and ENJOY IT while you're at it. Doesn't get any better!
I'm certainly not the expert that some of the guys on here are, but MAN, I WOULD NOT mess with the wheel bearings that are in there if I were you, given the history that you have NO IDEA about. That can cause you a world of hurt - REPLACE them, they're cheap enough, even if you have to bring them somewhere to get done. And yes I agree with you, all rubber should be replaced. Why mess with those, you'll be happy you did if for nothing else than peace of mind.
I am ALSO pro-Thunderheader - that things gunna scream!
Although, I had the Screamin Eagle II's that are on there right now back in the day! If you have the right build those things can sound mint.
Please do keep us updated on your progress, we'll all be anxious to see that thing come back to life!
