New T-bars, etc. - it's done

I planned and looked forward to today all week. The weather was supposed to be gorgeous with only a small chance of a shower. So, of course, I woke up this morning to a forecast 10 degrees cooler and a chance of "intermittent sprinkles". I live about an hour and 15 minutes from the dealer. About 15 minutes into my ride there, it started raining and never stopped the entire time there and the entire ride back. Made it back, I was totally soaked, and the bike looks like it was just dredged up out of a lake. Dealer did my 5K service, installed a new set of T-bars (similar to HD Street Slammers), relocated front turn signals using HD brackets, and I ended up buying some new HD Aeleron grips because the grips I had were too tight on the throttle side for the new bars. I'm absolutely pleased with everything except the turn signals which I will get to in a moment. The T-bars completely change the look of a bike and for the better on mine I think. But I was actually after, and achieved, a better position for my arms and hands. My arms are more straight out in front of me now and my hands/wrists stay in a more natural, relaxed position than the stock pull backs put them in before. As far as the service goes, I made sure they did everything they were supposed to do and am surprised that I could tell a noticable difference in the way the engine is running and the tranny is shifting. The bike had recently developed a hell of a clunk when shifting and it has now diminished a great deal. Not sure if that means I was low on fluid or what - the dealer didn't comment on it.

The turn signal relocation will have to grow on me. I'm not used to looking down at the forks and seeing my turn signals sticking out but I never really liked the way they looked even on my stock bars and certainly not hanging down from the T-bars. The only snafu I noticed is that the dealer neglected to run the signal light wires through the channel provided on the relocation brackets. But, I'll just look at that as a riding opportunity to go back and get it corrected.

I will post some new pix when I can. Right now the bike is a mess so I'm waiting for the weather to clear so I can shine it back up again.

2007fxdc,
I'M DYING TO SEE YOUR PICS!!! as I've also been wanting to get Harley's Street Slammer bar on mine as well, just can't afford it right now.[:@]
Gotta post some pics soon man! I think you'll be the first one on this board with t-bars on an '07 FXDC as I did a post not too long ago about "pics of custom bars on '07 FXDC" & I think I got like 1 or 2 members who both changed their bars to low rider bars, but nobody tostreet slammers or T's.
I know exactly what your saying about Harley's relocation kit, I have the same set on my bike. They stick out too far & make the front of the bike look like something out of Star Wars! Harley will never make a shorter version because of code regulations...they have to be so far away from the headlight. Only way around it is the Kuryakyn fork clamps, there are a few members on here with them that have posted pics...:eek:actually...here'sa few picsfor you that I have saved in my photobucket from another member& thread that I made not too long ago about this very issue....

Here's a quick before and after pair of pix from the riders POV (sort of). I took some more but the flash is screwing me up in my garage with glare and it's too grainy without the flash. When I finish polishing her up and can get her outside (I'm starting to see some blue in the sky), I'll take some more pix and post them.

Okay I give up on the weather. Here are some pix just after cleaning this morning. Forgive the sloppy garage surroundings.

My new sig pic is another one.

Awesome, looks great man! What size rise are those?...6"...8"...? What size thickness are the bars?

8" rise. I thought the 6" would be best but liked the 8's better when I got to the dealer. I'm 6'4" so it kinda makes sense.

Bar appears to be 1 1/4" thick but it's hard to tell exactly.

I wish I hadn't have tried to screw with my sig pic. Now I can't get it working again.
