Default stock heat shield clamps

The clamps used to hold the heat-shields on my fatbob are so cheap the shields rattle!I tried tightening them and two have stripped, and the dealer says I have to replace them at my cost.I took the shields right off now I couldn't stand the noise any more!
1; will riding around with the pipes naked harm anything....I don't think so.
2;Does the wrap material block the heat, because these tommy gun heat shields look great ,but my leg burns ,sometimes even at speed !
3;I was thinking I would wrap just the part where the tommy holes are,I'm starting to think the pipes look better without the chrome shields!
Open invitation on opinions guys 'n gals

go to home depot and get some new hose clamps... put those on there.. that is what they are basicly... what mostlikely happened is when the guy put on your heat shields he torked the clamp to tight and stripped the track on the hose clamp... easy fix for about 3 bucks!

I tried the Chinese clamps too and they just blew apart, so look for quality clamps. Also the shields will rattle if they rotate a little out of position, there is a whole thread on this too.

you can pull the clamps off the shield and match up the size at any auto parts store
thing is the quality is a concern you don't want to get ones that will rust the minute they are wet...(maybe the ones at H-D are better in this respect).
also.. I believe the wrap is good at blocking heat...

UH thanks dudes I wnt to HD dealer today and they gave me new ones so I'm ok for now,I also saw from pics that the black wrap turns gray so it wouldn't really look that good. I popped it back together and the noise is all gone now (or for now)
at least.
