I'm sure they got it worse down there... But up here in ohio it was pretty crazy. They are saying it was a level one hurricane that hit us yesterday, may be bad for people with damage, as they dont offer herricane insurance up here... And if it is declaired a hurricane your homeowners wont cover...
Shut down power in 4 couties for 10 hours, got mine back at 10pm last night, but about 5 miles north may not get power back for another 4-5 days. Numerous trees, limbs sticks, and sheds/barns down. It was the weirdest thing i've seen ever... No rain just hella wind!!! 150 school and business closings today... My work was open unfortunatly, as a day off would have been good to help the neighbors clear trees and what not.
I did see one of the big trampolens (sp) roll/blow into a neighbors shed... Pretty funny sight.

Thanks for everyone's post and well wishes. I was born in Houston and lived there about 22 years. My family still lives there (parents and 4 of my brothers and all of their families). We have bayhouses on the gulf and wade fish Bolivar many, many times. It hurts to see what it looks like now but it will rebuild for sure - even better than the last time!
Nobody was hurt in my family but phones are down, lots of trees are down, no electricity, no running water, etc. Just about what you would expect.
I lived in Houston during Hurricane Alicia and I remember it being a very wild ride- before, during and after when assessing the damage. We walked around outside while the eye passed (calm) and before the next side hit us.
Very wild - we're all very thankful that it wasn't worse and we pray for those who did get it worse.
