So the last time I was home, I went riding with two buddies (one has a almost neon green color 02 vtx1800 and the other has a black 08 1200 sporty). We stopped to eat at a local buffet place to eat lunch. I parked my bike between my buddies bikes and we went in. at some point during lunch one of my buddies noticed a group of waitresses eying our bikes. then about 10 minutes later one of them comes over and asks "Is the bikes in the middle(my 09 fatbob) is a BMW?" I was amazed at the question speechless. my buddy with the sporty looked at her like she was stupid and said " no thats a Harley!" almost yelling at her. to which she said "well we thought the emblems looked like BMW emblems" and walked away.

Has anyone had someone mistaken their bike for another brand before???

I have heard of ppl mistaking Yamaha Star bikes for Harley's but never a Harley for a BMW

 

i had a guy think my '09 street bob was a night train.

 

I've been asked several times if my bike was a fatboy. LOL

 

granted the fatbob is a new different looking model. but bmw? i don't know how i would've taken that one. i'd just chalk that up to plane stupidity on their part. fatbob to me is unmistakingly harley, of all models to take for a bmw. obviously they haven't seen that many beamer bikes.

 

Mine is constantly mistaken for a Night Train.....wich is understandable

 

I've been asked 2 or 3 times if mine was a Night Train...but then one of the guys who asked was a VROD rider, so...

If mine was ever mistaken for a metric, it was only while it had the stock pipes on it.


I will say that the dual headlight probably doesn't help your case.

Was at Strokers in Dallas (local biker hangout bar and shop) Sunday and was asked by guys riding a Harley what model it was. I hope they knew it was at least a Dyna. Softail guy's. BMW. No way.

 

Yeah, I think Fat Bobs look sorta like BMWs, what of it?
