Default Pick-up loading of a Dyna

I am in the process of buying a 2009 Ford Ranger with a 6' bed. Doeas anyone have any experience of loading a 2009 FXD onto one of these, or any 6' bed, and what is the best, most cost effective ramp assembly to get?

Thanks,
Ric

Get a trailer and $40.00 chock from Harbor freight and tie er down! That is the safest way. I don't think I personally would deal with a 600+ pound bike in a small PU. Mine works great and is solid when in tow.

I learned the hard way that you should use an extra wide ramp to disperse the load on the tailgate when loading. I "V-d" the tailgate of my '05 Tacoma using a narrow 1' wide ramp by placing it in the middle of the tailgate. The lucky thing for me is I searched the Internet and found a Toyota service bulletin reference number. They replaced the tailgate even though it was off warranty. Now, using a 3' wide ramp, the weight is dispersed well enough that I've had my friends Ultra Classic loaded in my truck without issue.

6ft ain't gonna cut it. You need an 8ft bed. A 5x8 utulity trailer will work fine. I hauled my WG back and forth to Columbia (90-100 miles) every monday and friday for almost 3 months without an issue. Strapped it down 2 on the trees, and 2 on the shock mounts. That thing didn't budge.

Stock specs show that as being 92" long. That's 7' 8" long. See...you need an 8ft bed.

I hauled my Night Train home from the dealer in the back of my silverado with a 5'8" bed. I just put the tailgate down and rolled it off the dealers loading dock into the bed and straped her down. When I got home I used a drive on hoist at work to back it onto then lowered the hoist and took off. In my extra short bed the tire at the ver back sat in from the end of the tailgate about 2 inchs, 8 ft bed my ***-maybe if you want to close the tailgate because you don't trust the tailgate strength or your tie down ability.

if you can find a small hill you can back your truck up to it with the tail gate down and drive right in or out.
It's what I did.
I hauled my 07 superglide in the back of a shortbed chevy. Strap it down and smile all the way home
