won't start?

ok, this has just started happing the past couple of weeks. When the bike is cold and I hit the start button, nothing happens. It's like the starter button is not making contact. All the lights are bright and I hear the slight buzzing sound of the fuel pump. Then after a few minutes, it starts. I've checked the wiring and all looks fine. No obvious sign of damage. Is there something aside from a broken wire or defective starter switch that can cause this? I have the Harley keyless start system.

Seems quite prevalent here, did you check the battery connections? Where the cables bolt into the battery? Alot of the new bikes seem to have this problem.

It just dosen't act like a bad connection. This morning I went out and did nothing but push the start button and nothing happened. I waited a few minutes and tried again and it started. I didn't move anything. After work I went out and put both switches to the on posistion and tried the start button, nothing, but I noticed that the turn signals were flashing so I waited until they stopped and bingo, it started. I'm now thinking I might have a weak battery in the key fob. It's been a year since I replaced it. I'll get a new battery and let you know.

I've had that and it puzzled me for a while. I wish all the faults were that easy to fix.

I encountered a similar problem and the cause was the ECM not the battery, bike was still under warranty, replaced same no issues since..O7 FXD
