Default oil change for 2008 street bob

I'd like to change my own oil and filter, but like many others, I'm unsure of the location of the oil drain plug. While the oil change for dummies picture is good, it does not seem to be the same on a 2008 96cu engine. Being new to this, I could easily be wrong on that, but does anyone have some insight on this?

X2

But..to get you on your feet it is the plug that is 90 degrees and not the vertical one, that is your transmission.

The service manual is the best thing you could ever buy for your bike.

Agree on the service manual, but if you know where the plug is, you certainly don't need a manual to change the engine oil. If you look up under the tranny from the right side of the bike, there is a plug in the bottom and then there is a plug on the bottom side that faces out towards the left. The one facing out from you is the oil drain. The one facing down is the tranny drain. Do yourself a favor and go pickup some drain plug o-rings and change them everytime you pull a plug out. My indy didn't change mine last time and one of them split to the point it caused a leak and the other one has a piece of rubber hanging down where it split as well but no leak.

Your Owners Manual has the basics in it. If you have not done this yourself, search the forum plenty of posts on how to. +1 buy the factory manual.
