Wow, that's one heck of a ride! I wish my friends here would go for rides like that with me. I can't view the pictures here from work, so I'll have to wait till I get home.

I had the dealer pull the available detachable windshields out of stock and have them fit it while I was sitting on the bike. I ended up with the standard height. I have room on the upper fork tubes to move it up or down for the best view. I like to look over the top.

And did we see deer. Not sure if I mentioned it but along the dark, 2-lane section of i64 heading west there were groups of 4 to 6 dear every 20 yards or so. As soon as I saw this I pulled in close to the car driving in front of me. Didn't want to leave much of a gap in case a deer decided to shoot across. We were driving very aware at 60mph during that whole section. Took forever but we finally made it to where it opens up to 70mph.

I'm hoping to head back during spring break. I think it's the last week in March or first week of April. By then it should be a bit warmer then it was last weekend. I'll have a few days to recover as opposed to 24 hours between 1000 mile rides. Still wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Yorgo, that part just past Rocky Mount where it goes to 70mph is probably the worst part for deer too. You are in the middle of nowhere for a ways there and they are everywhere. Consider yourself fortunate that you didn't at least get a scare. Around here, in cages and hopefully not bikes, it's not a matter of if you've ever hit a deer but when. I've seen what they can do to a car and my neighbor can tell you all about what they do to you when they hit your bike. He's lucky to be alive and his windshield probably saved his life. Totalled his bike and banged him up pretty bad too. Be CAREFUL in these parts, especially between November and January.
