Default Question about Stock Laced Wheels

Hi guys,
I'm looking at stock 21" laced wheels on ebay to put on my 2009 LowRider (after installing stock wideglide trees, axle, and spacers of course).

My question is this...

Can you use the various wheel installation kits available for wheels in the accessory catalog in the stock laced wheels as well...or are the stock laced wheels only able to handle on axle size?

I believe I would need the 25mm kit 43851-08A. I am looking at a wheel off of a 2006 Springer. Can I put this kit in this wheel?

Thanks,
Russ

I might be wrong but I remember seeing somewhere that the 06 Springer still used a 3/4" axle. Your bike uses a 25mm axle. Which means you will have to bore the center of the hub to accept the larger spacer tube for the axle. The tube for the 25mm axles has an O.D. of 1 1/4". It might sound like a big deal but it's not really hard at all. I purchased an 05' WG wheel for converting my 09' SB to a WG front and had to buy a 1 9/32 drill bit to bore the hub out.

The easiest way to do a laced 21" wheel on a Dyna is to lace a 21" rim on your stock hub.

Maybe I didn't phrase it right but...

Now, when you buy Harley wheels, you buy a separate wheel installation kit for the axle that is on your bike. You can buy a 3/4", 1", or 25mm kit.

What I'm asking is that...can you take out whatever is in the 2006 Springer wheel out (which I know is equipped for a 3/4 axle) and install the 25mm kit?

For example...take a Harley Thunderstar 21" wheel...

You can buy it and put it on a Softail with the 3/4" kit...OR...you can buy it and put it on a 2008 Dyna Wideglide using the 25mm kit.

That wouldn't work for two reasons...

I have cast wheels AND I'm converting it to a wideglide front end.

I think the easiest way is to find a take off tire/wheel/rotor

Reading is fundamental; I'll work on it.

When I put a 19" wheel on my Wide Glide all I did was change the bearing in the wheel, along with the adapter kit for spacing, but as far as the wheel is concerned you just change the bearing, OD on them is the same, at least from what I found, the bearing changes the axle size.
