Default question reguarding HD tools

Well ordered my 2" tank lift kit from Jakyle(sorry for spelling) and unfort my gas crossover line is too restricting to lift tank. So I started to follow the directions supplied, and looked up the part numbers for hose/clamps and run down to the dealership. Get the clamps and hose then they tell me the clamps req. a special tool...I bite and ask how much and the guy says $80. I can justify alot but $80 to crimp some clamps down. So I just stopped off and picked up some of the screw type clamps, but they are not as clean looking...any other tool that works in HD's?

Shutting the rant off now

Not any help on the tool, but are you sure you can't make the 2" lift fit without changing the cross-over line? It's a little snug under there, but I'm surprised it won't fit. As far as clamps, there are some nice replacements out there. Here's a link to one type, these are sold in packs of 6.

An awesome way to go is to leave the stock clamps in place, cut the hose in the center and splice the hose back together using a double flow shut quick disconnect. Herko and Colder are the 2 companies I've found that manufacture these. Here are links as a couple of examples,
Colder http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23774
Herko http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLE...item1c19ad4279
The nice thing about this route is you can remove your tank for cleaning your heads or running wire whenever you want. No fuel leaks or messing with clamps beyond the initial installation. Then if you really want, just ride your bike to the dealer to install the stock oetiker or PEX clamps. They might charge you $10 bucks or so.
Or buy the $80 Harley tool for $20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oetiker-CLAMP-pliers-side-squeeze-Knipex-1099i-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a0ef05e28QQitemZ18063 9260200QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
you'll use these again when you do your 25,000 mile service for the fuel filter replacement.
