Default What is the best way to remove seat bumpers from rear fender?

Hey everyone,

I am going to be switching from a 2 up seat to a solo seat frequently. So I was going to take the bumpers off the rear fender, and reinstall them on my 2 up seat. Just looking for the best way to remove them with out damaging the paint. If anyone has a better way to do this, please let me know.

Thanks

I mounted mine to the seat, no problems switching between seats. No marks left on the fender.

Be sure to post pics. I was eying a sweet 2 up today, but don't know what would fit and what wont. If you're talking bout the little foam rubber blocks, use a bit of wd-40. Gets the sticky stuff right off without scratching or scraping, or use a bit of heat. (Hair dryer).

You can use a little heat and peel them off with your hands. At least that's how mine came off. Once you get one of the corners started to peel back, they'll come right off.

A little heat worked with mine. Not sure why Harley sticks them to the fender and not the seat?

Use heat and pull off. As far as seat mount, I had the solo on my Bob just got a second quick detachable seat nut and purchased a second HD finger screw. That way there would be no possibility of the nut coming off the fender while riding. You can just use a regular screw for the nut that isn't being used. Just quicker with the finger screw from HD.

They put them affixed to the fender so any rubbing or micro-abrasions would be between the foam and the seat, not the fender paint and the foam. Harley didn't install them on mine. Dust/dirt got between the pillion and the paint and it rubbed 2 deep scratches in my fender. I discovered them when I took the stock pillion off to install the my C&C Fastback. My local Harley dealer is supposed to warranty replace my fender.

I just peeled mine off with my fingers, no heat required (on mine at least)
