When I fire up and am sitting there waiting to take off, listening to the carbed riders cuss either trying to start or trying to keep it running, they are jealous of me.

There is no cussing with a well tuned carb. My Road King never missed a beat and always fired right up.

looking to trade

I have an 01 fxst with the delphi injection and want a carb so if anyone has a bike that has a carb and wants fuel injection maybe we could trade the parts needed if so let me know.

Mikuni is the BEST carb we have used hands down. Dyno results are a lot of times better with Carbs than EFI. The only real way to get good numbers with EFI even if you have a Power Commander is to have it Dyno'd. Power commanders "pre-picked maps" are ALWAYS too rich and they basically just get you close.

Owning a bike shop, I can safely say that the dependability issues goes to the Carb hands down also. CV carbs are EXTREMELY reliable and we have had no real issues with Mikuni either.

EFI on the other hand. Fuel pump fails... your setting there broke down. Fuel line in tank ruptures (whick is very common)... your setting there broke down. Elevation issues? Anyone that says EFI runs the same in all elevations has not rode very much. The still get gutless at higher elevations. My personal bagger is FI, and barely pulled itself through Estes Park (12,000 ft). Neither did the Carb bikes.

If I could still buy new bikes with Carb's, I would.

To answer the original question.... Can it be done? I think the Altman kit is the easiest way, but I cant say if they are realiable or not, as we have not used them.

if thats you bike in the pi no wonder.
How's that exhaust for anything but WFO????

I'll take the reliability if EFI anyday.

BTW I have 2 carbed harleys too both have mikunis now. cv 40 in the parts stash.
Try getting the EFI set up right, once it's tuned, you need not do anything but ride!!!
