Guys,

I am swapping wheels with another member and am a little concerned on as to what I should do ... We both have 2006 Dyna's ... I have the Street Bob with Factory spoke wheels and the other member had a stock 2006 Dyna with factory Mags ....

we were planning on swapping out just the wheels and bearings not the flywheel and rotors ....

Question ... are the rotors and sprocket gonna bolt up for us or do we need to swap those to ?

The front brake rotors must remain with the wheels they came on as they are not interchangeable. There's no need to swap bearings unless you plan to replace them.

+1 on rotors staying with the wheels - they don't interchange from laced to cast. It's also a VERY good idea to replace the bearings and sleeves. And the service manual states that you should never re-use rotor or sprocket bolts. Leaving rotors on the wheels they came with eliminates the need for new bolts.

 

well, the cast wheels that I am getting are going to the powder coater so I am going to have to take them off... hopefully it all works out for the best.

 

Yup. The chrome on the mags on my g/f's 2000 FXDL was all pitted (po stored it out by the beach and didn't keep up with cleaning) so we just pulled them and stripped them down for powder coating. Great opportunity to replace all the perishable bits. Your a$$ is riding on those axles/bearings so it's worth a few bucks imo.

 

the mags that I am getting are coming off a bike that only has 2K lightly ridden miles. Im not to concerned about the hardware being bad but ... how much are bearing and hardware typically ?

 

bearings are $20 each, rotor bolts about $13 fir chrome ones, standard about a $1 each, I forget what the pulley bolts are but don't skimp on them, bad things happen if they fail.
