Here's a new one for ya... broke in half!
Rode 30 miles to work this morning, same old same old. Parked the scoot, looked down, and saw this...
Side mount plate with cat eye blue dot light from J&P broke right in 2.
Had about a year with 8,000 miles or so on it, no clue at all how it happened, no sign of impact, just broke.

It looks like you had screws in the bottom two holes and not in the top two.
My guess is the weight of the light on the top caused it to flex/vibrate and eventually the metal failed. I had a rear accessory light on my '91 EG Classic do something similar.
I wonder if it would have lasted longer if you had all four bolts installed.

Oh well, gives me an excuse to switch to LED and buy a billet, or have a custom one fabbed up. Add it to the winter project list.
