I too use the rust olem flat black. Buy the old style cans they dont run as much as the new cans.

I would recommend taking it to a powdercoating imho. With that area being up higher it will get more things hitting it at speed. So unless you enjoy repainting things, I would get it powdercoated.

Thanks for all the info guys...looks like I'll buy a few cans and do some test strips to really see what I dig the most.I'd get the Moco cans,but I heard that paint is not as durable as the Krylon cans.Plus let's face it at $20 bux a pop it's not the most economical.

While this thread is alive...

Will the "PJ1 Satin black engine" paint hold up to the temps of header heat shields?

I got a can of spray paint from colorite.com when I hacked up my back fender. I was pleased with that.

Its labeled as good to 500F, might stand the heat sheilds but not the pipes.

I hear that duplicolors bumper paint does a good job anybody ever tried it ???
