progressive 412's

is the only difference between the 'dyna' version and the sportster version the spring rate (heavy duty vs. standard)? from looking at pics, that seems to be the case, but wasnt sure.

ordering a set off ebay, cant decide which to go with. i'm only 180, never a passenger, so i'd think standard would be fine, but not sure if the extra weight of the bike makes heavy duty better.
anyone?

Progressives tend to be on the stiff side so go with standard.

No, they are not the same shock. In addition to the spring rates, the internal valving is different from Sportsters to Dyna's. The Dyna line uses extremely stiff internal valving and springs compared to the XL's. Running Sporty shocks on a Dyna would be like having marshmallows for suspension. Secondly, since your 180 lbs, the standard duty shocks would be the best choice. I believe the heavy duty's are for riders 225 and heavier. I had the exact same question myself. I found a killer deal on Sporty 440's and called Progressive to ask if I could just swap the right Springs and put them on my Dyna. What I just mentioned is what they told me.
