No the pipes were about midway to the center of the hard bags, but you would think that this would cause too much heat near the bags

Default pipe length/bag length on FLD mods

The length is exactly why I'm NOT running my bags with my temp bassani's. It (first proto-type) comes back about 2/3 of the way to rear of bags,. Bassani is fabricating the proper one as I write this to accommodate the problem. Those stock bags are $1k each from what I've heard on here and I'm not about to roll the dice and compromise them at that rate. Talked to their (Bassani) R&D thursday and I'm about 2-3 weeks away from the final version and will definitely post pics.

Tell ya what, I like the performance from those proto-type bassani's so much I'm going to also get a black version and change them out at will. Too bad handlebars are such a pain to change out or I would change my apes out to black gangster z-bars when I change out pipes to black and vice-versa. I will do that at some point and put in the budget $200 a year for the labor to do the black/chrome bar change outs.

Guys, our bikes have so much versatility with all the polished-chrome-color combinations, the possibilities are endless.

As i posted in a thread a couple of weeks ago, the performance is drastically better from the stock pipe set up and that is withOUT any engine mods so far. Before you pull the trigger on something else, you might want to see my review when I get the final version. No i don't work for Bassani, but I'm a believer. Based upon quality of material and my limited understandin/grasp of build quality amongst the various pipe manufaturers, the only peer I see of Bassani is D & D. Those two companies put out the best quality products in my opinion. Due diligence is about determining if a companies claims are real or just marketing...right? None of them are cheap so value has to exist...just my two cents.

Great point, even if the heat didn’t get your bags (probably would IMO)
the build up of soot after time would be a pain.

Now Mr. FBinSoCal I think you should just buy another FLD, one for each mood.
Personally I have a hard enough time with the bags and shield decision.
Hope they don’t come up with a quick release exhaust and handlebars.

If I did need another bike it would be another FLD, that will get em going.

With all the restrictions in HB Ca. I wouldn’t go any louder than a Nightstick either.
Can you get a open end plate for a HD Nightstick like the Supertrapp?

I want to ditch the big front end and put a springer on it
I know it will handle worse and don't belong there and whatever but I love springer front ends.
going to go play with my image editor and see if it would work
I bet I could get big bucks for this front end on my bike...
springer hard bagger
I bet I could come out ahead dollar wise. I could afford the fuzzy dice I have been lookin at.

Open end cap SuperTrapp part number 405-3046. I ordered one from Amazon the other day for $20 plus $5 shipping.

Springer front end?? Holy chit None.
I'm sitting here now and envisioning it...that actually would look pretty damn good I think. If you do, why don't you also put about a 1/2"-3/4" rake on it too?
Hmmm...fat black springer with a 6" extension, fat front tire, raked out 3/4", swingarm frame, 103 engine, blacked out pipes and air cover, blacked out bars. that might look killer indeed.
...and the fuzzy dice... lol, like I said before, bro you are definitely an original. ^5's
