Vance & Hines 2-1 heat shield fell off

V&H Big Radius 2-into-1 - heat shield fell off ...
I'm a bit peeved ... the rear heat shield on my V&H Big Radius 2-into-1 flew off my motorcycle when taking off at a light. It smashed in to the grill of PoS plastic car ... but has caused well over $1000 in damage to the car.
Upon retrieving my heat shield ... which is now seriously scratched up - when it was in immaculate condition ... it's clear that one of the 4 metal welds completely failed, and the remaining U bridges sheared off at the elbow.
It's clearly both sub-standard metal (either in the specification of the sizing of it, or likely chinese manufacturing) .... and sub standard welds.
No weld should fail like that.
And guess who's left holding the bill for the damages .... Not very easy to say "oh well lump it" when something like this happens.
V&H refuses to stand behind their product. They've lost a customer for life in me, that's for sure.

My front HS broke welds... I was sitting at a light, and was hearing this clank, clank, clank at idle, thinking wth... look down and only one weld was hold my front shield on... managed to get it home.
The big Guy upstairs was with me that day because I found one on ebay.. brand new, for 20 bucks... didn't have to deal with V&H. Only problem I've had with it. However my next pipe, after the engine work I'm planning, won't be a V&H.

Had the exact thing happen to me with my Read heat heat shield...The weld holding in the metal ribbon came off.
However, when it fell off I was going to fast to notice.. So no more heat shield.
Now having a hard time getting it replaced.. V&H say it would need to be made and cost $200 something..
If this becomes a common known prob. Then maybe there is a case for them to lower price.
Last time I called (last week) the guy on the other end was a #ick.
Last year had my bracket crack in half at the weld.. they were cool and nice enough to replace it.. so mixed on service..

Vance and Hines
Good luck with V&H they sent the wrong parts for 6 months, here’s my post from then.
I would like to thank Brian from Fuel Moto. I have been dealing with Vance and Hines on a warranty issue (a cracked heat shield) for six months on some pipes that l purchased from Fuel Moto. After countless attempts, phone calls, and emails with Vance and Hines, who's customer service sucks, and not getting anywhere, I called Fuel Moto to see if they could help out, they stepped up to the plate, even though it really had nothing to do with them and within two weeks I had a complete new set of pipes even though all I needed was a heat shield, Fuel Moto has the best customer service of any company that I have dealt with, I would highly recommend them, it's nice to see a company that stands behind the products that they sell.
Thanks again.
