Switchback Accessories

I have a 2012 FLD Switchback. I have recently fitted the front fender chrome trim and strips (Front) off a Softail Delux and they are a perfect fit.:D I am looking at fitting the chrome trim from a Road King on the rear end of the front fender. Can anyone tell if it will be a perfect match? I suppose what I am asking is do the Switchback and late model have the same front fenders? My local Australian HD dealer can't tell me.

I looked into all kinds of all kinds of options on existing fender trim together with a local custom builder, none of it works right so far.
We need a company with a CNC machine to make some new ones up. Something unique and different from anything we've seen so far.
Maybe something razor-cut but not overdone.
A 21st century design with an underlying 60's vibe would do it for me.

Hey 2/4 RAR please post up some pics
I was thinking of doing something like that

Well I can confirm that the Front Fender Tip (59019-05) and the Trim Kit (59209-91T) off a Softail Delux definitely does work exactly as I have fitted it.:icon_cool:

Cool, looking forward to pics. Obviously, we didn't try what you did then.
We even tried cutting a couple of them to try and make them fit. I think most were from a RK though. they all were just a little off.

Bundy, I have added a few photos to 'My Albums' shown in my profile.

bundy bruiser 02-23-2012 08:01 PM

Cheers Mate, looking good might have to do that.
What did it cost for the fender trim?

That looks great and appears to fit really good too.
Wakes that fender up nicely.

I asked what we tried, it was all kuryakyn. I also thought it was various aftermarket road king trim. I stand corrected for my earlier post about it not working. Obviously, hd trim IS working.

Congrats on the new fld, RAR.

Front Fender Tip (59019-05) (AUD $55.35) Less 10%
Trim Kit (59209-91T) (AUD $37.75) Less 10%

Obviously they would be much cheaper in the US.

wyldspirit 02-24-2012 03:11 AM

Bob I got out the HD catalog and the trim kit was about $30.00 and the fender tip from a couple of HD authorized dealers listed the fender tip from $35 to $55

Thanks John,
I'm kinda trippin here because after thinking back on all the various calls I made about trim, HD actually told me they didn't have anything that would work yet. That's how I started talking to indy's.

Oh well, maybe the HD salesguys need some classes on what they sell...geez

Anyway, I'd still like to see some custom ones come onto the market.

Are you coming out in march or april?

Bob

Jason,
I don't know the difference in the exchange rate from us to aus., but if you want, I can go get that trim for you out here and ship it out in same box with the flip blades if it saves you money. It may save you the shipping costs for the blades if nothing else?

No big deal for me to do that. Let me know,
Bob

Bob,
unfortunately the guys at HD and the dealerships dont know themselves
they told me the 3 pocket road king pouch wouldnt work on my switchback.

when i found a couple of windshield companies making windshields with the
same part number listed for both road king and switchback i decided to take
the chance and as you know it fits perfectly.

as i said in another thread, HD should have a spot in each assembly plant
where they can put one of each bike just to try parts fitment, im sure there
are many others factory HD that will interchange.

on the switchback/fld only site i created a few weeks ago i made a interchange
category that i have begun to collect info for.

Cool, I was just reading this entire post and glad you posted that man. I have had the worst luck with stuff fitting this bike. Ask Bob. He knows. I'm a member of your site bro. I'm checking it now because I was looking for a bag for the windshield.

Keith, the road king windshield bag works just fine. That's what I use and you can find them on ebay cheap, usually, a lot of guys buy them and never use them.

Bob,
sent, also bounce it off of Mrnone if you can, would like his input
on the mods he made over there especially since the site is switchback specific.

Softail Trim on FLD...drilling required?

Hey, RAR,

Does this just "stick" on or is some amount of fender (gasp) drilling required?

Thanks!

Webhead13 03-01-2012 09:54 PM

While we are on the subject of drilling and sticking stuff to the bikes....

(Easy Bob) anyone figure a way to mount a flag on the bike? Besides using a sissy bar. I was going to go to the hardware store and try to fabricate something for the license plate. All the mounts are expensive and don't have anywhere to mount on the switchback. I don't want no plastic crap either. This sucker has to be tough.

Thanks guys

There's a patriot guard riders thread on here, hit those guys up for best mounts, etc. I don't run a flag on my bike, too concerned it will fly off.

Here's a link to some protocol:

Thanks Bob. Just want it for the fourth of July and the 9-11 run.

bundy bruiser 03-02-2012 06:55 AM

I see a FLD site mentioned a few times in this thread regarding multi fit parts yet no site is mentioned please enlighten a fellow FLD owner........
