Default terrible brakes on a fat bob

anybody else notice this. dam. i really have to lay on them to stop bike. 2008 model with 12 k on it. pads have plenty of meat left on them. is there a way to get more power without buying new calipers and spending a fortune

I took me a second to figure out what "brales" were, but there are many after market pads that may do a better job without change the calipers and rotors. Also some time the pads get a coating on them from use, a simple sanding the pads may help also.

Pads could be "glazed" or could be time for a brake service, if it wasn't completed @ 10K miles check.

guy who had before me had all services done. shows oil changes and plugs but not brake service. pads have lots left on them though. ill check for glazing and sand them and sand the rotors alittle as done on mx bikes. thought maybe some trick of trade with Harley Davidson,s

Friend of mine had a similaar issue. I asked him if he'd ever tightened his bridge bolts on the front rotor.

He gave me a blank stare.

We tightened them and that was that.

That may not be your problem, but it's a cheap thing to try.

Make sure you use a decent torque wrench and the proper amount of torque

EBC double sintered pads or Lyndall gold Z plus...make sure your pistons are clean and you caliper pins are lubricated.

Upgraded pads and braided lines really wake up the factory stuff.
