The newer HDs use a CANBUS system and I bet this is related.

For instance I installed the customdynamics LEDs turn signals and my turn signals flash at the correct rate but the turn signal indicator on my dash flash rapidly. No load equalizer was necessary but the oddly behaving turn signal indicators is a by-product of the CANBUS system.

You could try a load equalizer (it's just a resistor) and see if it clears out as it shouldn't hurt anything.

If you use the typical resistor that is used for turn signals for the headlight it will probably burn out pretty quick. Resistor type load equalizers for turn signals are made for 50% duty cycle for short periods of time, and can be undersized in the power rating without much problem. OTOH, a headlight will be on constant for long periods and any load resistor would be best to double the power rating.

IMO

Interesting. When I bought my Street Bob, I had the HD LED installed rior to delivery. When I got the bike, my red security light was on full time. The shop assumed it was a faulty security module and promptly ordered another. I went ahead and took the bike home but had the new module installed a week later. No problem since.

We never thought about the LED causing the problem, but it sounds like the same thing.

Maybe your shop can install a module from a different bike to see if that fixes the issue.

if it doesnt put out more light and uses just as much power, I cant see much benefit for myself.

Im using an HID system that throws huge amounts of light but it has some issues too. Doesnt always ignite the bulb.

I do use some auxiliary leds on other bikes and they work great.

Based on my HD LED experience, the LED throws much more light than the halogen bulb. It is a significant improvement and draws less amps.

I was very impressed with the LED light that I am now using an LED Jeep driving light on my Ducati Monster 900. It throws out almost double the number of lumens vs. the OEM headlight (3,030 vs 1,568). The amp draw went from ~ 3.5A stock to 2.3A.

My HD LED headlight is much brighter than stock.

Never change your bulb?

Did you ever figure out what caused this problem? I installed Daymaker LED head and passing lamps on my 12 Heritage...now I am experiencing this red light issue.
