Guess I'm glad I got the 96
For sure it had some left, mine just has slipons and intake and I shut it down while still pulling hard at 110 verified by my gps unit. Any flat windshield will kill the top end. Back in the easy rider days I had a new 650 Triumph Bonneville that would top out at 110,I put a windshield on it and it would do 90 mph tops. Threw the windshield in the trash.

I've got a 2003 FXDWG 88 w/ 5 gear tranny. It's a stage 1 as far as I know. I bought it at a used car dealership so I never talked to the previous owner. It could be cammed for all I know. I bought it with low miles (4000) in 2011. I've got almost 20,000 on it right now. I'm checking the tensioners in July while I'm on leave so I'll see what's under the hood then.

I have no problem hitting 100 in 5th. The apes and me being 6'2 makes me feel like a sail though so I don't stay there long. I had it dynoed at 67hp/79tq.

I knew a guy who had same issue, I told him trade it in for a Hyabusa and to take out a big life insurance policy.

I have noticed the twin cam motors are very strong down low but tend to dive around 4500 so that could be what your feeling. The twin cam design is a really awesome low end torque design which is why you typically see a 10-15 difference between hp and tq
