The reason why the great aftermarket headlight manufacturing company's such as Adjure or Headwinds cost so much and are around the same high price (perception) is because an all aluminum headlight cost much more to make as well as fit and finish. I have purchased cheap aftermarket headlights when I was younger previously and had to throw them out only to purchase a replacement that was a good one later on. Where is the savings? Your money is in the trash can and I still had to buy another one for the same price as I could had in the very beginning. The reason why Adjure or Headwinds can not sell $40 headlights is because they can not. Your choice.

Wouldn't necessarily label it as junk, but banking on a $45 headlamp to function when needed (aka night vision) is probably somewhat of a gamble. Wouldn't go cheap on anything related to riding safety...especially when it comes to illumination...JMO.
