First Scraped Peg!! Haha!

Haha! Well, I'm getting closer to the club, one step at a time. I know....total "noob" post, but hey, it was interesting.

I haven't been riding very long and recently purchased my beautiful Wide Glide (first motorcycle) but today I went out to continue improving my riding skills around a more crowded area and scraped my first peg. I'm not you guys yet, but I'll get there!

Have a great weekend and ride safe!

I don't lean far enough to scrape pegs. I did lean far enough to scrape the heal of my right boot once, scared myself a little on that one.

The boards on my RK are worn to a knife edge.

I don't scrape much, but I remeber my first one. I was on a honda shadow going through north Arkansas through some twisties .... I think I did more damage to my shorts than the pegs.... I think I was about about 17 and thought I was about to bite it! :)

I've never scraped my pegs and don't think I want to. I have scraped my boots heels quite often though.

Hello firewoman
If you get your boots repaired with a metal bit on the it will stop the wear and leave a nice trail of sparks the next time you tip it in.

I have always like to scrape hard parts...wife doesn't like it, so with her on I position my boots so they'll scrape before the peg or floorboard..still fun and let's me know not to go any further.

GraemeR 08-18-2013 06:00 AM

quite normal on the old FXR in the hills. Does tend to get expensive so I now only use cheaper from pegs...lol

Mercyfulfate 08-18-2013 09:58 AM

First time I scraped a peg it scared the $hit out of me.lol

300Slim 08-18-2013 10:06 AM

Thats all the Softail Slim does. I'm to the point now when at night I can look down and watch the show. Nothing like a good 5+ second spark trail.

This is why I run stock rubber pegs, I can't afford to tear up expensive pegs

First HD here as well and it's a RKC. Took a nice sweeping right and hear that floor board scraping. Scared the crap out of me at first but now I gotta keep both sides even on wear.

sgerry 08-18-2013 11:30 AM

Scraped the floorboard on the Switchback I rode on a demo.
Bought the same bike the next day!

Congrats, and keep the skills sharp!

Then its just fun you cant see :D. I have been through a set of pegs already on my 13 wg. Sadly now my new exhaust is taking the hit for my right dips but its a small heat shield that I will probably cut down/remove anyway.

Elemental13 08-19-2013 10:24 PM

It's a normal thing to scrape them on my wide glide the only time I was scared is when I hit a corner too hard and actually got all the weight of the bike onto my lower exhaust pipe and it got loose in the rear so just don't do that lol

b2inUT 08-19-2013 10:49 PM

I remember my first time.... and then it was the pipe's turn on righties... but dammit i hate when I scrape the primary!
