Word is, the tank lift will allows better cooling over the top of the front cylinder and provide extra flow to the rear.

Other than that, just the looks. Mines a DK Customs 2" lift. The DK version is a set of "Z" or "S" shaped posts. Mine are powder coated black.

There's another version made from shaped sheet metal. I haven't tried them. My DK kit has never worked loose., is easy to install and it looks good.

Your mileage to reserve-light will be less. The tank holds the same amount of fuel, but you may lose access to about 1/8 of a gallon.

Pros:
1. Everybody will know at first glance that you're a poser.
2. Everywhere you go people will be laughing at you.

I don't see any cons if that's what you're into.

I like the looks a lot but I was told by a friend who has a tank lift, the gas light comes on when it's not low and it holds less gas. Strike one, strike two.

I think it is a goofy look, to me it looks as if the tank is not installed properly...but, it is the current fad.

Disagree. I think a virago looks pretty badass compared to a dyna with a tank lift.

There is a lot of information and pictures in this thread-

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/vendo...ed-weekly.html

We think ours is better. It is purpose made, it matches the round frame, is definitely stronger than flat stock.

Yes, you can do the Deluxe option (rear lift) without modifying the seat...it is a tight fit, but will work.

Besides not trapping the heat, it lets more of your engine show, and is easier to clean. Less air flows over the top of the tank, so with some it helps reduce/eliminate buffeting.

Mine is flat stock and has been installed for 3 years now and I haven't had any problem with movement in the tank. I like the look of the lifted tank but can't vouch for improved cooling. It took only 15 minutes to install.

I agree with the loss of maybe 1/8th of a gallon. I recalibrated the fuel gage after I installed the lift so my reserve light comes on with about 1/2 gallon left.

There is another thread on here detailing the rear lift. The only mod they made to the seat was bending the metal tab that inserts beneath the rear of the tank.
