Low Rider switch Relocation 07

3 Attachment(s)
I finally figured out a place to relocate my Ign. switch. With a little thinking and some measurements I found that it will fit between the battery and the battery cover. I drilled a 2" hole in the cover itself then a 1 3/4" in the battery box band and then took a dremel tool and opened the 1 3/4" hole up till the switch fit with a little clearance .Then with 4 - 8/32"screws nuts and lock washers I mounted the switch to the battery box. Then the band will be held on with the pins on the band itself. So there are no visible screws. Now all I have to do is run the wires but that is the easy part. Here are a couple pic's so far. I am still in the process of painting the band to match the bike. So all it has on it right now is primer

Wow I like that.I have 07 and I hate the key on the neck, tired of picking it up off the ground. Nice job think I might try that. Look forward to see the finished pic's.thanks for sharing that mod

For the wiring , the way it looks if I take the battery box off the bike I can get to the very back of the bikes backbone. Then from the front of the backbone where the plastic cover is on the backbone to access the switch I should be able to snake the wires to the back inside the backbone and into the battery box and hook up to the switch. I will let you all know if this plan works or not. LOL. This mod is similar to the earlier bikes with the switch back by the battery box but atleast you will not have to be trying to get the key into it all the time and won't be leaning over your tank to turn bike on or off at the front switch.I wanted to paint the battery band to match my bike but all I can find price wise is $70 bucks for matching paint in a spray can or around $90 for a 1/2 pint. Thanks MOCO for discontinuing my color (Fire Red Pearl). So I might just paint it gloss black to match the frame.More to come.

Wow, great mod! I have a 06' low rider and I've been wanting to relocate the ignition switch, just can't decide where I want to put it. I thought about relocating it like 128auto did. I look forward to the finish result!

Nice work. That looks great. I've got an '06 with a key in the neck like *64*. Are you converting from a key as well as relocating the switch?

That neck lock always reminds me of my Wife's Sportster ... and the 4 inch Sportster speedo ... Put an 05 Wideglide dash on it with a Big Twin 5" speedo and ignition switch. lovin it.
