I just did the same. Rode sportbikes forever(R1 still in the barn), but a Harley has been calling for some time. Picked up a '12 Wide Glide, 4500miles two-tone paint for just over 13k out the door. Mind you it doesn't have any adders. I'm happy with it.
I did the same switch, Suzuki GSX-R to a Street Bob. Are all you prec sportbike riders still rocking sportbike gear or did you switch? Like full face and leathers to half helmet and jeans?
Well. I was already a jeans guy on my Ninja, so I guess I'll still be a jeans guy. But I will be going to half helmet, so I'm debating on weather or not to get some sort of windshield to reduce windrag on my upper torso and to deflect bugs. They are a real b***h at night by the lake where I live. But on shorter hops and when I don't go by the lake I don't want a windshield. So I'm debating how to handle this small issue...
I think the deal that you made is good since it includes the extra upgrades. I recentLy traded for a 14 and to add the exhaust, air intake and tuner is some serious dough. Show it off and Post some pictures.
Windshield for sure... That is one thing necessary if you want to ride a cruiser on the interstate for sure. I switched from sport bikes to cruiser, did not think I wanted a windshield, tried it once on the interstate and got caught in the rain too. Windshield for me even without the rain from now on unless your going to stay in town under 50mph!!!
JMHO anyway... First Harley, first cruiser and I love it. My FXDC takes corners great and I scrape something quite often.
