Default 2012 Street Bob- no AC cover ok?

Hi guys, is it ok for me to ride with no AC cover at all on my stock air cleaner/filter if I know it will be a nice day with no rain?

If not do I have any options to put another cover (smaller, round ideally) without having to upgrade to stage 1?

I installed cycle shack slip ons last month. Not sure if that matters.

Thanks!

Yes you can but why? Living in Miami I would think you would get a ton of bugs and sand. At least buy a rain sock........ Get a aftermarket parts book....

Since you asked, I think that is a terrible idea. Stock filter is paper and well...... ugly. Drop a buck fifty on a stage 1 from dk or ness or leave the cover on. You would gain very little airflow by just removing the stock cover, in fact there you likely do more harm than good.

Default Hate the looks

I'm not digging the stock "teardrop" AC cover, but I guess I've never seen stock filter so point well taken...

$150 for stage 1? Thought it was more expensive to upgrade. Ok, I'm down for that!

Easy to install and kit comes complete with instructions? (I'm not very handy)

Do I need to tune bike after upgrading since I have slip ons?

Thanks guys!

AC is a one...maybe two beer job. Very easy install (although full disclosure doing mine 2 weeks ago I snapped a bolt). Check out a site sponsor here called dk customs, by all accounts they make a great $150 product. You MIGHT need a tune with your slip ons. Plenty of options all depending on how far you plan on taking your modding adventures. Another plug for dk here, but they have a thread in the tuning section that does an awesome job of describing available options.

agree with above post, also if your in a budget you can look in to the nightrider stuff, I believe DK also sells it for around $100. If you dont feel like speding 300 for a tuner yet I suggest taking this route.

intake and exhaust you are going to need some type of fuel managment. you are lean now that will put you even more in the red. I know you will read on here guys posting "i run this no problem" that is not true you have a bike that is running that does not mean it is no problem XIED is an easy cheap solution. I would go with XIED and a DK intake. they sell some really nice smaller ones. but running an open paper filter is a bad idea.

Thanks guys for the feedback, I want to be a smart consumer but obviously I want to take care of my $10,000 bike. So if I understand correctly, this product (http://sales.nightrider.com/xied.html#) is a good idea for a 2012 street Bob with cycle shack slip on sand a DK AC kit?

yes sir that is a cheaper solution to a tune. you could spend a bit more and get a tuner (you will need to do this if later down the line you do cams or head work) It is a good investment. I know right now you say you dont want that. but after a few months on here you will be asking what cams you should run hahaha
