Know I have seen some posts on this, but can't find it now (when I need it). Do the older seats fit the newer bikes with minor modifications? Looking at a '96-'03 Sundowner seat right now.

 

If I'm not remembering wrong they have to have alonger tang in the back.

An 03 seat will definitely not fit a 2006-2007,I have tried,my brother gave me a 03 Superglide Sport seatto replace my solo 07withand it would not go near it.

I just this week got an 06 Dyna Custom seat from E bay at a good price and it fits a treat.

I think an 05 will fit if you make a longer rear bracket.

I had an OEM05 Wide Glide seat on my 06 Super Glide with no modifications and it fit fine. I have read other posts stating they would not fit without extending the rear bracket. I think its a matter of chance.

 

I tried to put an 04 seat it was a no go, so sounds like only 05 and up.

 

i had a 04 wide glide seat on my 06 street bob..fit with no mods

i now have a 04 lowrider seat on it..and it fits with the longer bracket...

 

Sounds like maybe '04 and up have a chance or fitting. Appreciate the advice.

 

I have an '04 FXD and an '06 FXDCI, the seat will not fit. The WG seat might be the only one that will work.

 

I PUT AN O5 WG SEAT ON MY O7 STREET BOB AT FIRST IT DIDNT FIT BUT I MADE A NEW REAR BRACKET FOR IT AND IT FITS PERFECT. NOW THAT IT FITS IM NOT LIKEING IT TOO MUCH I FEEL LIKE LIKE IM UP FORWARD MORE AND LOWER ITS JUST UCOMFORTABLE TO ME.

 

I find this all very interesting. I started a thread about a month ago asking if the new '06/'07 SB seats will fit on an '05 Super Glide. For the most part the answer was "no" the frames are different. Then I contacted my local HD dealer and they told me the same thing, "frames are different". I got some measurements off a guy on ebay and it sounds like the only difference is that the front tab is shorter on the newer seats by about and inch. Other than that, from the measurements I got, the seats measure the same.My heads startin' to hurt!!!!!! Time for a beer!!!![sm=icon_guiness.gif]
