A couple of questions. 2011 FLHX /103. Recently the speedo miles to empty stopped and only shows dashes in the window. Speedo and trip odometer work fine. Low fuel level light is on. Fuel gauge no longer shows a fuel level, just stays on empty.

I am assuming that the fuel sender in the tank has gone out. But wanted to make sure the gauge itself has not failed. But I wasn't sure if the MTE feature feeds off the fuel gauge. So to be clear, does the MTE display feed off of the fuel gauge, or directly off the fuel sender?

Likely, the in-tank sending unit provides a voltage which drives both the gauge and MTE calculator.
Could be a bad unit, or other condition (broken wire, poor connection, . . .) keeping the unit's signal from reaching the other devices.

I just got my hands on a wiring diagram. It looks like the sender signal wire (yellow) is split and feeds both units off the same line. I am going to trace for broken, etc. But I am really leaning towards the sender at this point.
