Default Oil pump seal early 19 m8

I'm getting ready to do a cam install in my 2019 107 sg. First time doing this.
the s&s oil pump has a groove for a seal to the case . It did not come with a new seal.
From my understanding..the current oil pump may or may not have a seal...I haven't torn it apart yet.
If the current pump does not have a seal, should I purchase a seal? The s n s oil pump instructions say, use of the seal is dependant on if there is a seal there or not.

It seems like I would want a seal if there is not one?

Purchase a new seal from your local HD dealership and have it ready, cheap insurance in-case your bike did not have one. YES put the seal in if you do not have one.

I would interpret the instructions as if there is a seal on the old pump you would put one on the new pump and if there is no seal on the old pump you don't put one on the new pump.
