Default 1973 Ironhead rebuild

Hey hows it going..

Picked up a Late 73' Ironhead a month or so ago. Before you start bashing me I'm very very new. Really minimal idea what I'm doing. Going slowly, but need alot of help and patience.

I'm starting on the engine now. I can't take the rockers off because of lack of space. So I need to take the heads off..

Here are some pictures of her. I love her lines

1st noob question.
How do I move the pistons? I know I have to turn it manually, but what cover do I take off to get to the nut that I have to turn?

To take the pushrods off I need to loosen this nut right?

Default Iron head

Just take plugs out ,put bike in gear rotate the wheel until piston goes down. Why not do it the right way.disconnect the hoses from oil and gas tanks.Unbolt motor and yank it out .No big deal then you can clean and paint and pull motor apart while its out.Answer to your question yes loosen the nut, turn it in and take presure off of valves and tear the heads off.

I was thinking of doing that. But I can't get the motor out.. The rear mount is like impossible to detach.
