Default 2008 Sportster- Major engine work @ 8,000 miles!

Has anybody heard of major engine work on a three year old bike with 8,000 miles on it? Nine months ago I bought a used 2008 Sportster XL1200L bike at local HD dealer. I got records at this dealership from original owner who purchased this bike from them. The last owner had the 1k mile service and the 5k service done. Now don't know if this bike's engine was built messed up at factory or what but I had cold idle problem (fixed), Rocker box gaskets replaced (leaking, Shift leaver seal replaced (leaking), Clutch cable "o" ring replaced (leaking), 4 lifters replaced (worn), 4 Cams replaced (worn), Crank Shaft to be replaced, Flywheel to be replaced.
I rode bike 1,400 miles to date! Deralership is paying for MOST I still will be $1,800 + out of my pocket. Dealership said I should call HD Customer Care to see if I could get back some money. Has anybody ever been in this situation???

Seems a bit extreme for low mile Sporty, but I'd say dealership's helping where they can. Might be time to trade-in/trade-up, or stop using the poor quality HD oil...get some good stuff in there.

Never heard of this particular senerio......but oil pump failures are not uncomon...which is what the excessive CAM wear is suggesting to me.
