Here’s what a good experienced human tuner can do

hey jim, i'm not too far from those guys, you think it's worth doing a tune on a stock 96 with just a/c, exhaust, and fuelpak? or should i hold off until i get a Power vision or power commander? seems like you had a great experience with your stage 4, good write up, and impressive numbers

Show up on a second Saturday for Mike's dyno day and for $30 Mike will do a couple of pulls, no tuning, and you can see what's happening and perhaps make some tweaks with the Fulepak. Also a chance to talk to Mike about a dyno tune and his Power Vision program. Oh yeah, free burgers, dogs and soft drinks as well; it's a good time and you will meet some other interesting folks.
Yes, good advice!

Try Lawrence's in Coeur d'Alene. I got a strong recommendation for them from a Dynojet certified tech at Lone Wolf.

So it took Mike the guru and a novel of a write up for the point of an underachieving 259 cam to be exposed which I mentioned on multiple occasions waaay back when. We all know softails are slower but sir those numbers are still VERY low for a stage 4 103.
I just bought a SG and with ONLY a pipe/cleaner and good cam posted 112 TQ and 98 HP...103 stock heads. That's 7-8 ft lbs more than your stage 4 kit. And my cam hits 100 TQ at 2600 rpm and still over 100 at 5000rpm.
I'm not wanting to rain on your parade but it pains me to hear of all the time and energy spent on this "power" issue when if you had just changed cams and re-tuned the numbers would've seen a substantial bump.

And with 107 hp at the rear wheel of a Softail with a ridiculously heavy 240 section tire, and a table top flat torque curve across a wide rpm range, I am very satisfied now.

When riders choose the right cam specs for the build and/or their riding style that's all that really matters. A popular non harley brand cam may consistently show 3-5 more ft lbs or hp than a comparable screaming eagle but on the street you may not even notice. So at the end of the day if the cams match your application needs then all is good in the world.
But if you're obsessing over dyno graphs, don't run screaming eagle.
