Default 89 tour glide headlight upgrades...

has anyone swapped out the front headlights for something better like a led?
is it as simple as ordering a couple 7" headlights that are led for a Harley and plugging them in to the stock plug?
if someone has done this...can u post some links of what u used and what was required in converting it...
thanks

I'm pretty sure the twin headlights in an FLT are not full size 7 inchers

Wink

Having established that, you can install any automotive light unit of that size, or alternative bulbs in suitable reflectors. There are lots of alternatives available today, which can be a bit confusing IMHO, with a wide variety of high performance conventional bulbs, HID conversion kits plus complete replacement units, also LED bulbs plus replacement units. Deciding on a suitable choice ain't easy!

Whatever you do, if you have old reflectors replace them with new modern ones, which should give you better beam patterns and remove any dullness you may have in the current ones. In the Touring forum this is a popular topic, with Trucklite often quoted, for their LED light units. If you call over there and search for 'trucklite' you should find plenty to read up on!

I have a 90 fltcu and the headlights are 5.75. Me being frugle (cheap) have been searching the web for a pair of replacements. I found on ebay a guy selling genunine hd headlights with bulbs for $24.00 bucks each. I am going that route and will upgrade that with a led H4 bulbs. The stock bulbs on mine are so yellow and dim I cant see very good on night runs. Old eyes don't help.
