Tool Roll/Tools
Here's pics of my tools. I bought the leather tool-roll off Etsy, from BlackOrchardBooks. Very high quality, super soft, rough-out interior/shiny exterior, brass rivets, etc. The guy (Andrew) does them with or without a logo (e.g., HD). I got mine without. It was 53 pounds (about 70 bucks) shipped from GB to Cali. It took a little less than two weeks to arrive.

I came off of shovels and panheads, so I carry tools. I have cut it down a bit lately, but still carry more than needed as a rule.
Solo, I carry more than two up unless I am pulling my cargo trailer. Then I usually have my sockets to get the sprocket off behind the primary.
I broke a rear belt and did a chain conversion at a guy's house during a weekend party we were having. Tools are cool to have around ya.

First rule I follow is I only carry tools for what I can do myself on the road. I still run tubes, so a flat means I call road service-there's no way I am going to remove/install the rear tire on a Heritage Softail on the side of the road without a lift.
I do carry:
small vise grips
small LED flashlight
multi-bit screwdriver
6" crescent wrench
3/8,7/16,1/2,9/16,5/8 combination wrenches
Allen wrenches
duct tape (not a roll-wrap a couple feet around one of your wrenches)
Electrical tape
baling wire
a couple feet of electrical wire
pliers
spark plug socket & a couple of spark plugs
an assortment of small nuts, bolts, cotter pins and such in the sizes that experience has taught me might "go AWOL" on a long trip.
All this goes in a tool roll carried at the bottom of one saddlebag.
Cell phone with number of AMA road service (haven't needed it yet-knock wood).

I opted for one of these kits. Added a few small items of my own. Sits nicely in the bottom of saddle bag. Been there 2 years now and I can gladly say, I have not needed to use it once. Knocks on wood! Oh yeah and AAA card always. Probably the best tool in the kit!
