What brake pads are people using? I've always bought them at the dealer, and got sticker shock today! $54 each front caliper and like $60 for the rear. Seems pricey. I'm not looking to "cheap out", but think the moco parts are over priced. I've hear good things about EBC and Lyndall pads. My bike is a '97 FLHT
I haven't to buy any for quite a while, maybe that's why I was surprised by the cost of the HD parts.
Anything at a stealership is expensive. Recently went to buy some bolts to hold the floorboards on the brackets (one had stripped). I wanted the old hex heads, but to my dismay they had been replaced with the newer socket heads. $10.30 later (for two and lock nuts), I was thinking I should have ordered the Drag Specialties ones: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Drag-Special...tWLu75&vxp=mtr $5.95 + $2.67 shipping, for 4 bolts/nuts. But I had already made the drive up there.
Son just picked up a set of V&H slipons for his 1999 FLHT at the same stealership for $450. Luckily he has 'Chrome Cash', and he got them for what he had accumulated.
I ran Lyndall on my V rod but I just get something reasonably priced off ebay with good reviews for my softail...I put a HD 4 piston on the front with a decent $25 set of pads an it works well to me.
I use an EBC organic. I don't believe in Metallic or Ceramic. They work good when hot but cold not so good.... I also believe they tend to warp the rotors sooner.... Not only that I don't believe I paid more then $50 for the front and rear together...
I have EBC rotors and pads on my Glide. I tried to buy Lyndall rotors and pads a couple of years ago and they had no stock at the time, nor any idea when they might have fresh supplies, so be warned.
