Same as any other bike.
Loosen the handlebar clamps roll the handlebars forward and then tighten the clamps when you get the handlebars where you want them.

You have to take the ignition switch out, then remove the plastic bonnet with the aux switches to access the front of the clamps. The manual says you have to pull the radio or the radio box (for radio delete models) to get to the back of the clamps

As does the '97. Turn switch to acc, push button under the switch with a small screw driver press key down and turn key about 60 degrees counter clockwise (i think) and the ignition will pop out. You should buy a field service manual.

Don't have a '97, and yours looks different from my '90.

All I can say is that everything about working inside of those batwings is a PITA.

Ugh!

Good luck!

Wink

Take a look at an on-line parts website, which may give you a clue of how to dismantle the switch. As flhchaz points out, it is at times like this that the genuine factory service manual pays for itself - available at your local friendly dealer!

While undoing the handlebar clamps it can be helpful to have a sensible extra pair of hands holding the bars, to prevent them suddenly slumping backwards. Especially when fine-tuning it helps to know where they were on the previous attempt to adjust them.
