Default Gentlemen,

I have a 1997 Ultra Classic with 71,599 miles in it. Mm fuel injection. While out on a ride the other day bike ran great till we stopped for an adult beverage. Went to go and no power up for the fuel injection. No head light either. Radio on, blinkers worked but, no power to start. Trailered it to an Indy and they got it to run. They were not sure what they did but, went through a series of electrical checks. I ran it out for the evening. All seamed fine. I just went to ride and the same thing is happening. I just went through the fuses and all are fine. Any help would be great!

Thank you.

Wayne

Just a guess but it sounds like a weak battery??? Blinkers and radio don't need much power to run, nor do the relays that power the blinkers. Maybe put it on a trickle charger without doing anything else to the bike and see what happens in the morning.

Intermittent gremlins are the worst kind. Battery first. Have it load tested. When you said "no power for fuel injection" does that mean that you did not hear the pump prime, or the motor would not spin?

Something just struck me while I was typing this. Check to see if the bike had the ignition switch recall done. You can call Mother Harley with the VIN number, and they should be able to tell you.

Battery was tested and is fine. CCA was right on. The EFI does not pressurize. It is like it is accessory mode. There is no neutral light or head light. Typically I turn the ignition on and the voltmeter and the code light come on as it gets the EFI ready. The speedometer light and radio are powered up. I have not had the ignition switch recall fine as far as I know. It is very puzzling.

Thank you!

I didn't mean to be a smart *** but, can I go to HD web page and get that contact info about the ignition switch recall?

I found the info in the Harley manual for my scoot. Is that a big job to change?

Thank you guys for your replies!

Any dealer can look up the recall info for your bike on their computer.
